Day 20: Ahiohill & Clonakilty, Co. Cork, Ireland
My last full day here L
We woke up later than usual, sleeping in after our late
night. With a slight headache, I had a quick breakfast and nursed myself back
to full health via coffee, water, and an ibuprofen.
We headed out to do some planting and strimming/raking
before we got in the van to go to town! I planted some French bean seeds in the
wigwam (putting our hard work to use!) as well as some seeds for purple
cauliflower (which is actually broccoli- deceptive name) in smaller trays for
germination. After the planting was done, we went into Clon one last time!
Zoe and I grabbed a quinoa burger and a slice of pizza at
Lettercollum for lunch, eating the burger right away and waiting until we got
home to heat up the pizza. We wandered around town, FINALLY sent our postcards
(sorry Mom/Nick… they were dated 5/28 but I kept forgetting to send them!) and
took in Clonakilty for the last time!
We met back up with John and Tina at Scanaill’s, where we
also met up with Rob, and had a drink before we went back to the house. I
bought an Elderflower spritzer type thing that was absolutely delicious- I need
to be on the lookout for it when I’m back in the states! The match between the
Netherlands and Denmark was on too, so I got a chance to watch some of that in
preparation for IRELAND’S GAME tomorrow.
When we got home, Zoe and I did a bit more strimming and
raking in the front part of the yard and then came inside for dinner- tacos! My
most favorite kind of food J
We had some wine with dinner and just hung around for a while, and then Zoe and
I started scouring the house to collect all of our belongings and begin the
packing process! We’re taking a 9:50a train to Cork, so the house will be up a
bit earlier tomorrow to bring us to the bus stop!
It’s crazy that my time here is already coming to an end.
The end of one chapter and beginning of the next J
Favorite part of the day: Hanging out at Scanaill’s & dinner. A
great afternoon to sit and chat outside & my favorite food J
