Day 21: Ahiohill, Cork, Dublin & Sligo, Ireland
Today was the day we left Tina and John’s! We got up a bit earlier than usual to get all of our stuff together and eat breakfast before we caught the 9:50a bus to Cork. It was sad to say goodbye, but hopefully we cross paths again! As you can see from my previous post, I really really enjoyed my time there and got a lot out of the past few weeks!Tina dropped Zoe and I off at the bus stop and we were on our way to Cork! When we got in, Zoe and I grabbed a coffee and something to eat at a little café before we went our separate ways- me to a train headed to Dublin and Zoe to a bus to Limerick for her next WWOOF site.
The train to Dublin was about 2 ½ hours and once in Dublin, I took the LUAS (for the first time!) to Connolly station to get on my next train that would bring me to Sligo! Ridin' in style:
I arrived in Sligo a bit past 7 where Declan and Sharon were waiting! We dropped my stuff off at the house we’d be staying at and went straight to the pub (The Strand- great beach spot!) for the Ireland match!
It was great craic (ha), even though Ireland lost. Hopefully they can do some serious work in the next 2 games so they can advance! Called it a night semi-earlyish because Dec had to work at 8a the next day and went to sleep! Full day of travel, but great first night in Sligo!
Favorite part of the day: Watching the Ireland match! Watching soccer always makes me really want to play again... not to mention the awesome crowd/atmosphere in the Strand bar!
