Day 19: Ahiohill & Clonakilty, Co. Cork, Ireland
The day started like any other, sun switching to rain about
every 20 minutes or so. Eventually, it evened out and remained sunny for most
of the afternoon!
After a quick breakfast Zoe and I headed into town with Tina
to pick up a few things. It was the Friday market, so we shopped at the farmers’
stalls for a little while, relaxed near a café and then bought some burritos to
eat later on for lunch! Tina bought some farm fresh strawberries (yum!) and
then took us to another garden center to look for pumpkins and French beans. No
dice on the French beans, but we did get 2 pumpkin plants!
Back at the house, Zoe and I headed outside to plant some
spinach, weed the pea plants, and weed and plant the pumpkin patch. Weeding is
an incredibly time consuming task, especially if you want to get all of the
root systems outta there so they don’t grow back so we spent most of the
afternoon working out there.
We had a delicious dinner of baked chicken, roasted potatoes
(that we picked from the garden the other day!) and salad and then Zoe and I
got ready to go back into town! Tina suggested a concert that was on at Da
Barra’s for free for a band called Jape. They were really really good- kind of
electronic plus rock sort of thing. Look em up! Honestly, they reminded me a
bit of Two Door Cinema Club, but that might have just been because both bands
are Irish and in the same genre J
Zoe and I left Da Barra’s at close and headed down the
street to another club/bar. Quite an interesting scene, to say the least. We
called a taxi home and ended up going to sleep around 4! I was very excited to
sleep in a bit more this morning.
Also, here are some
more photos of the house with our strimming & wigwam!
Favorite part of the day: The Jape concert, for sure. Definitely a band
I’ll look up and continue to listen to!
