Day 45: Berlin, Germany & Prague, Czech Republic
Since we had a late night/early morning, however you choose
to look at it, naturally, we slept without a care for what time it was, how
long we were sleeping, or when the hostel check out time was. Which turned out
to be 10. So at 10:30, we were woken up by the cleaning crew, angrily waiting
to clear out our spaces.
We essentially threw everything we own/have with us out in
the hallway and let them to their thing. We got our lives slightly in order,
took showers and headed out of the hostel, on our way to the bus station to get
to Prague.
We stopped over at one of the big train stations in the city
(the one we arrived into, actually) because there were Dunkin Donuts there.
Yes, we are stereotypical Americans who love their iced coffee. We each got a
coffee, I grabbed another helping of Currywurst (which is DELICIOUS) and then
headed out again to make our way to the bus station.
Currywurst: chopped up bratwurst, sautéed onions, some sort of Curry-like sauce and Curry powder. They serve it to you with a side packet of gum... that should tell you how good/pungent it is.
After waiting a bit at the station and wondering why not
everyone was as hungover as I was, I realized it was a Tuesday. It makes sense
that life is normal for everyone else but us. Regardless, we got on the bus and
tried our best to fall asleep. It was a tough ride for the times when I was
awake; strugglebus, for sure.
We got to Prague around 7:30ish, grabbed some dinner at the
bus station, and then figured out Prague’s metro to get to our hostel. It’s
pretty centrally located, right over the Charles Bridge, about a 10 minute walk
from Old Town. It was pouring last night, and since we were operating on about
3.5 hrs of sleep overall, we did not feel bad about staying in and having an
easy night.
Favorite part of the day: Dunkin was definitely a highlight. It’s the
little things in life…
